چکیده

Ball dribbling is a central element of basketball. One main challenge for realizing basketball robots is to stabilize periodic motion of the ball. The task is nontrivial due to the discrete-continuous nature of the corresponding dynamics. This paper proposes to add an elastic element to the manipulator so the ball can be controlled in a continuous-time phase instead of an intermittent contact. Optimal catching and pushing trajectories are planned for the underactuated system based on the virtual holonomic constraints approach. First experimental studies are presented to evaluate the approach. Index Terms Underactuated Mechanical System, Motion Planning, Orbital Stabilization, Virtual Holonomic Constraints

Underactuated Mechanical Systems: Contributions to trajectory planning, analysis, and control

Nature and its variety of motion forms have inspired new robot designs with inherent underactuated dynamics. The fundamental characteristic of these controlled mechanical systems, called underactuated, is to have the number of actuators less than the number of degrees of freedom. The absence of full actuation brings challenges to planning feasible trajectories and designing controllers. This is...

Time-Invariant State Feedback Control Laws for a Special Form of Underactuated Nonlinear Systems Using Linear State Bisection

Linear state bisection is introduced as a new method to find time-invariant state feedback control laws for a special form of underactuated nonlinear systems. The specialty of the systems considered is that every unactuated state should be coupled with at least two directly actuated states. The basic idea is based on bisecting actuated states and using linear combinations with adjustable parame...

Ball Dribbling for Humanoid Biped Robots: A Reinforcement Learning and Fuzzy Control Approach

In the context of the humanoid robotics soccer, ball dribbling is a complex and challenging behavior that requires a proper interaction of the robot with the ball and the floor. We propose a methodology for modeling this behavior by splitting it in two sub problems: alignment and ball pushing. Alignment is achieved using a fuzzy controller in conjunction with an automatic foot selector. Ball-pu...

A Control System

This paper describes the design, realization and testing of an active ball handling mechanism which is designed for dribbling the ball in the RoboCup Middle Size League used by our team NuBot. First, a virtual model of the simplified ball handling mechanism is derived. Afterwards, a control system including a feedback controller and a feedforward controller is designed and developed step by ste...
